Allow about 1 hour

The Walk

Leave the parking area in front of Badsworth Church and turn left. Continue past The Lawson Hut and cross the road just after the junction with Back Lane and follow the road (Field Lane) passing the Badsworth Millennium Stone. Keep on the footpath for about half a mile until you reach the new houses on the right hand side just at the start of Upton village.

Carefully cross the road and take a 90 degree turn, pressing on between a quaint cottage on your left and some large detached houses on your right where a well defined footpath will reveal itself. After about 50 yards pause a while to enjoy an excellent view of Badsworth nestling in the trees.

Simply continue along the grass foot-path which bisects the arable fields on either side until you come to Rogerthorpe Manor to your right.

Press on downhill until you come to a gate and stile which opens onto the main Badsworth-Thorpe Audlin road.

Here you have a choice:

 1) Cross the road and go forward up the bridle path and in 200/300 yards take a left turn towards the farm. Continue up the lane and turn left; pass the modern farmhouse which will be on your left hand side and continue past the approach to Saddlers Way onto Grove Lane. In a couple of hundred yards you will arrive at Ninevah Lane. Turn left and walk uphill to the junction with New Road. Turn left again and follow the footpath past Badsworth Hall and into the churchyard.

2) Cross the road and turn left. Very shortly you will need to turn right through the gate at the fingerpost. Follow the new footpath with hedge on your left and fence on your right, Go through the next gate and then along the enclosed path to end up back at Badsworth Church.
