LAWSON HUT PROGRESS REPORT - AUG/SEPT 2006

Hut News

Hut improvements continue though the pace is still limited by the lack of volunteers.

We have much good news to report:

  1. Wakefield has given us a grant towards building repairs.
  2. Wakefield Projects team has done a major clearance of vegetation and rubbish
making the creation of a rear garden possible.

    The Garden to be!

  3. A generous local donor has offered significant funding towards the rear garden.

Disabled/Ladies' toilet.

  1. New door in place
  2. Oak panels to 3 walls complete.

Next will be a new toilet suite and the disabled fittings then panels to final wall, new ceiling and lighting, new floor covering painting and varnish. Could take up to Christmas without further volunteers.

Rear Wall

Engineer's survey indicates work required to stabilise hut against high wind. New girders obtained, yet to be concreted in place and attachment woodwork fitted. Should be complete before the end of October thanks to volunteers.

Installation of new supports for the building (Sept)

Concrete Pouring

Rear Garden

Much clearance work completed. Now need to clear weed roots level surface add more topsoil and seed. Then we can think about flowers. Who will offer to help?

New Store

We need a new and larger store for the toddlers toys and much else. Work cannot start yet due to volunteer shortage. Some money is available.

Please contact Bob Pemberton on 01977 643603 if you can help
