Friends of
Let me introduce you to the Friends of Badsworth School, most of us are mums with children attending the school, we also have a couple of members who are residents of Badsworth and who play vital roles in the community and the headmaster, Mr Matt Letham. At the end of the day we all strive to achieve the same thing, to raise funds for the school.
We do this in a number of ways: by holding school discos, having a Fun day in Summer which coincides with Sports day (Cakes, tea and coffee, tombolas, raffles, games etc), various social evenings, and of course our biggest venture is our annual Ball Held in January. We are always looking for new and different ways to raise funds.
Some of the ways in which these funds are used includes: a book at Christmas for every child, lighting for the hall, electrical equipment including small ovens, sewing machines, cameras, TVs, educational trips and theatre trips, IT equipment and filtered drinking water units. We are at the moment putting all our efforts into our biggest project yet, to raise £5000 for new playground equipment.
Undoubtedly a lot of the raffle and auction prizes are generous donations from either parents or companies and organisations that we have approached, as you can imagine a lot of hard work goes into this as you can't keep asking the same people for gifts! And Badsworth is not a big place!
We give our time happily and freely and are always trying to recruit new members be it to run a stall on Fun day or just to help us tidy up after, all help is greatly appreciated!
