I am doing family history and someone said that they thought there might be a memorial in the church in Badsworth to a Farrer. Or it could be a Smyth. Can anyone please help me with this as I live in Australia which makes it hard to "pop in" and have a look.

Hi, I didn't know we had a website! Fantastic. I want to moan... is anyone else upset that we have to jump through hoops re planning rules to keep everything looking nice in the village then get horrid sticky black stuff poured all over the pavements? Maybe I'm just having a bad day.....

Anyone else in Badsworth experience today's 1.00 am earthquake? Didn't see anyone turn any lights on or go outside in our neck of the woods on Back Lane. Anyhow, the main thing is that I hope everyone's ok and there's no structural damage reported.

It's Getting Bigger? "The Green Hut!!, keep an eye on things, after many years of cramped storage space, we have finally started to extend the "Hut" by some 2.5m, this will give more useable internal area. Remember the "Hut" as been serving the Badsworth Village since 1921, and is still going strong. As anyone got any photo's of the early days?

Now it can be revealed! The mystery pub (posting 27th August) is in fact the Barnsley Oak. Congratulations to them on their well-deserved inclusion in the 2008 Camra Good Beer Guide.

We have been living in Malaysia for the past 9 months. We have a house in Badsworth and are looking forward to coming back at Christmas. The website is great as it keeps us up to date with what is happening in the village and is a nice reminder of home.

Thank you to Mr. M. Fretwell for the photographs of Badsworth. As newcomers to the village (only lived in Badsworth 10 years!) we have been very interested in seeing them.
| Mick Fretwell | 21 October 2006 00:00:00 |
Came across the site while searching for old local photos, lived in Badsworth from 4 years old till getting wed at 21 Ilived in the Church View cottage on the Main Street and worked at Glebe Farm for Frank Brabbs, when it got pulled down I moved to High Farm on Main Street. I remember at school being about 10 years old, that would make it 1958,when Mrs Horne was the Headmistress, we did a poulation count of the entire village I always remember the total, it was 325 people, how times have changed, I have few old photos from the 60s, I,ll dig them out and send them on, I now live in Scarborough but regularly travel back to my family in Upton, but always look on Badsworth as my true home.

In July we entered the scarecrow competition and were suprised to be awarded the first prize in the face of stiff opposition. We claimed our prize of a meal for two at Rogerthorpe Manor and went with a party of friends and enjoyed a most convivial evening.I would like to thank Mr Metcalf for donating the prize. His staff for the excellent food and service. The village gala day was a great success and every one involved deserve a big pat on the back thanks again to all concerned Ken and Kathryn Palmer

This is a message from a very good friend of your Chairman Barrie Slinger. I live in a village called Loughton in Essex and we don't have anything like your wonderful website. I am most impressed and would like to congratulate all those in your village who have been involved in the setting up and running of the site.

Excellent and informative site. The problem of not being picked up by search engines may have something to do with your "meta tags", just a thought from a rank amateur.

Great to see our first overseas contributor's article posted by Jenny Stocker of Austin, Texas. If there is anyone out there who has experienced a similar journey across the miles and across the centuries we would love to hear from you!

What a excellent history of the Badsworth Hunt - the Hunt has tried for 285 years to be a credit to our namesake, the village of BADSWORTH.

Anyone who has a comment to make on the police safe scheme,or any other item of council activity is always welcome at the monthly council meeting where there is the chance to change things. The meetings are at 7.30 every third Tuesday and the first half hour is normally a discussion with the police on their activities of the month, local crimes and policing proposals for next month. It is very rare to have anybody attend other than council members. The district councillor, Alan is normally also present between 7 and 7.45. Please come and have your say.

My partner and I live in Upton and she has been smitten by the beauty of Badsworth village and church. We were hoping that we could be married in the church and have our little one Kiera christened there. Could you advise if this is possible please.

Barry, On behalf of Badsworth Parish Council, thank you for setting up this very attractive and informative site. You are doing a good job, much appreciated for your dedictated time and effort, which you give free of charge!!

Regarding Parish Council Minute 231: If the Safe Scheme time is really going to be spent on routine traffic policing then I wonder if it is worth continuing with the scheme at all.
| Jenny Stocker | 19 February 2006 00:00:00 |
I live in Austin, Texas and my connection with your village is my second Great Grandfather, John Richards, who was Huntsman to the Badsworth in 1835.
| vivien stephens | 19 February 2006 00:00:00 |
How good to see Badsworth on the map. The details of the walks are good, and it's nice to be able to read the actions from the parish council meetings in the comfort of my own room.
| Colin Williams | 15 February 2006 00:00:00 |
Re Church calendar 15th June. It really ought to be Corpus CHRISTI (the Body OF CHRIST) as opposed to Christie as in Lynford and Tony!
| Sandy and Jo Gillan | 11 February 2006 00:00:00 |
